Course Description
This course investigates the only 4 women who made it into Jesus’ genealogy according to Matthew’s account. One played the harlot while another was a harlot. Who were these women? Why them?
Objectives
On completing this course you will know and understand…
- the unique and highly controversial story of Tamar, mother of Perez from whose line Jesus would eventually come.
- the story of Rahab and realize how remarkable it was that she made the decisions she made that brought her from a prostitute in a pagan nation to become the great grandmother of the Jewish King and Messiah.
- the story of Ruth and better understand what repentance actually looks like. How completely and utterly she left first life and nationality to adapt and become a citizen of Israel and a believer in their God.
- that God has standards for key roles like the priesthood and is not obliged to use just anyone who does not meet these standards.
